This Thanksgiving we all have so much to be thankful for! For our families, our friends, and for the beautiful landscape of autumn foliage that graces us this time of year. Here’s wishing you and yours a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday filled with warm memories and delicious turkey dinners and apple pies!
Last week my personal vision story started with EyeCare 20/20 and the offices of Dr. Silverman, where I’m sharing with you my own story of doing something special just for me – giving myself clear eyesight once again! I am so very thankful for this opportunity and to be able to share it with all of you! It means so much seeing all the interaction on social media and knowing you are following along and sharing this experience with me.
Let me share how it’s been since LASIK surgery last week. I spare no details!
The surgery itself was quicker than I’d imagined – about 20 minutes overall but I arrived earlier for a quick exam and pre-op instructions. The offices is pristine and well organized so my worry levels were low. When I was led into the room, music played in the background and I was greeted by my LASIK scheduler, Barbara and then by Dr. Silverman.
You stay awake the entire procedure, an experience that is both weird and cool at the same time. It is a very different feeling for your eyes to be so “open” but the entire time all I was focused on was how much I wanted to ditch my glasses, to be able to wake up in the morning and see the sunrise naturally, to look over at my kids smiling faces when we go swimming and not worry about losing my contacts.
Below are actual photos of me going into and during surgery. As you can see, I was still able to take a silly pic, hair net and all!
After my eyes were operated on, I did experience discomfort on the way home but quickly went for a nap. It was an evening of binge watching Game of Thrones and eating while recouping and wearing the mandated goggles that you wear the first day and then at bedtime for four nights after while using eye drops every 4 hours. I’m lucky to have been taken such good care of after my surgery and knowing that my parents had the kids for a sleepover so I could rest up helped so much too!
On Monday, I was the guest visitor in my son’s 3rd grade class and was able to read the kids a book and chit chat about writing and a little Star Wars talk. I looked out at their adorable faces, clearer than I ever could have seen, and just smiled. It’s only been a week and LASIK is already making mom life so much easier! Thankful doesn’t even begin to describe it.
