Graduations are a huge milestone in life, and watching those we love walk in their cap and gown to get their diploma are priceless moments of pride and happiness. Graduations are events to be celebrated and commemorated, acknowledging all the hard work, late night study sessions, exams upon exams, and late nights cramming to get ready for that morning presentation all lead up to.
Do you have a family member graduating soon? Maybe one that you remember from when they were younger – possibly hogging the Nintendo and never letting you have a turn at Mario Brothers because they were just *so* good at the game? Maybe one who got on your nerves from time to time as a kid, but that you are so super proud of now that they are “all grown up” and graduating from a major university? You know, that cousin or nephew that you’ve known since they were born who you watched grow up?
As one of the older cousins in my family, I sure do. In addition to it making me feel very, very old, I love seeing my younger family members graduate from school and am so proud of their accomplishments. It’s a great feeling to see their success, their determination, their dedication to their schooling and careers.
Growing up in the Philadelphia area, schools like Penn, Temple and Drexel are so popular and so many students locally attend. I took summer classes at Temple Main. My younger cousin later applied and was accepted to Drexel University, a Philadelphia city school that has been ranked among the best 100 universities in the nation for the past 5 years. Drexel is also a comprehensive global research university that has approximately 26,000 students. As the only child of my aunt who raised my cousin as a single mom with the help of my grandparents, our family could not have been more proud to see my cousin become a Drexel Dragon!
To celebrate that special graduation, what is the best way to show them how proud you are?
We all know that every graduate loves to receive money and that it is the standard gift to give that new alumnus, but what if you want to make it extra special and do more than just slip cash in a card as your college graduation gift?
Fun ideas for graduation gifts for that something special include making a money tree, including a gag gift or something with a sentimental value, or gifting something that they will always cherish and remember. Money trees are so easy to make and a cute way to gift cold hard cash but with a fun twist! Using an old photo of your graduate in diapers or dressed up as the Big Bad Wolf in their kindergarten play on a customized gift such as a mug or t-shirt make cute and tease-worthy add on gifts!
Personally, I love the idea of gifting college diploma frames to show off that diploma your graduate worked so hard for! When I first graduated college, I didn’t have the budget for an expensive frame to showcase all my hard work. Gifting your grad a custom frame for their diploma ensures their precious document is well taken care of and displayed, while being something they will have and keep forever. You can pick which style, mounting and frame you like with our without a seal from the college or university of matriculation. I love the University of Maryland frames (Go Terps!) and the Drexel University diploma frames! They make the best graduation gifts, trust me!
With graduates and their families investing so much time and money to earn their degree, their diploma shouldn’t end up in a filing cabinet or a drawer! Church Hill Classics is a professional framing company that helps preserve and proudly display your hard-earned diploma with officially licensed diploma frames. All frames are hand-crafted in the USA, with an extensive and beautiful selection of custom frame styles for more than 1,500 colleges and universities.
With graduation quickly approaching, so many grads have a checklist of things to accomplish before walking across the stage in their cap and gown. Items on this “grad to-do” list include sharing their graduation date with friends and family, ordering invitations and/or announcements, picking up their cap and gown, and party planning to name a few! In a recent survey, The Motherhood found that nearly 70% of respondents never framed their diplomas! Preserving those hard-earned diplomas is so important, and it should be part of the graduation checklist, too!
