Our family loves Disney – from the enchanting stories, to the captivating movies, to the characters you just cherish and love with all your heart. While that coveted trip to visit Mickey himself has yet to happen, we’ve found a way to bring the magic of Disney into our home and into our hearts even more. This month we celebrated special family moments with our multi-generational #DisneySide at Home Celebration. Here’s our story:
It all began with a box. Not just ANY box, but a large, brown cardboard box that took up half my front step (not that that’s saying much!) but had a pixie-dust label across the front instead of the typical UPS. “Disney Side at Home Celebration” was right there in front of me, and for my kids to see (and read!) to their delight. Party favors, fancy tea, crayons, and laundry detergent – oh my!!
Once we opened up this giant Disney inspired package, we began exploring all the fabulous products provided by Disney and BSM Media for us to incorporate into our event. In it were family inspired activities, like a family tree which we later used to discuss geneology, our roots, where our family came from and how it became what it is today! Mickey Mouse themed decorations and a fun Duff tie-dye cake mix made for colorful celebrations. However, I must admit, I giggled a bit when I saw the All laundry detergent. When they said the boxes were all unique, I just knew that they had my family in mind when packaging this one!
My daughter immediately went for the Disney Princess nail art and polishes and knew she wanted to give manicures to Aunt Drea and Grandma. Her own little party planning wheels were also set in motion! First step was to get out the Cinderella jewelry and socks to get our feet in princess mode for the special event!
Setting the table was easy and oh so colorful with the adorable Mickey themed table wear that was in our Celebration box!
We sang songs, played games, and ate to our hearts delight and until our bellies were full. My parents told us the story of the time they took me and my sister to Disney and showed pictures of us and our bad haircuts.
To extend our party, we sipped Twinings tea along with dessert. If you haven’t tried their tea sampler, it’s perfect for parties and family dinners because there is something everyone will like!
My kids asked when they were going to go to Disney for the first time and I felt a pang of Mommy guilt. If I have one goal for 2015, it is to make that dream come true for my kids. Can you tell which one of my kids is a big Minnie fan?
Nothing is more important than family and cherishing those moments and celebrating special milestones! Our multi-generational party includes parents, grandparents, aunts, and grandchildren – three generations of family and lovers of all things Disney! Disney is a place where magic happens and where families connect on a deeper level. I fully believe in investing in experiences with my family over buying “stuff” and material items. Your kids will always look back and remember that special tea party with Grandma, that funny story that Pop told them while sitting and snuggling on the sofa, and about the fun adventures you have shared together.
I’m thankful to Disney for the fun family programming, great stories my kids love to read about and share, and for the magic they bring into families like mine. And I can’t wait for the day when I get to take my kids to meet Mickey and Minnie for the first time!
Thank you so much to the entire Disney Family, to BSM Media and to all the product sponsors for choosing Mommy Entourage to host a multi-generational #DisneySide at Home Celebration and for the products provided to help facilitate this post. We had a blast!
