It’s no secret that I love to eat and love to enjoy meals with my family. With busy weekend schedules, I’m always on the look out for fun and easy menu ideas that don’t require me spending the entire afternoon in the kitchen. Don’t get me wrong- I love doing that and would if I could, but until there are 8 days in the week, that’s not always possible! I was recently sent this super easy recipe from Heinz, Johnsonville, and Ocean Spray and tried it out with my family. A hit! Here’s the details on how to make Ultimate Party Meatballs for your Saturday family get together or Sunday Fun Day.
Note: I love my slow cooker (aka my crock pot). While some people keep theirs stored away in the back of a closet, I use mine at least once a week. It prevents foods from overcooking with the lower temperatures and is great if not everyone can sit down to eat at the same time. I also love cooking meats in my crock pot because they are so tender and great for kids with baby teeth or without a “full set.”
The Ultimate Party Meatball Recipe is super simple. There are 3 ingredients:
- Ocean Spray Jellied Cranberry Sauce (1 14 oz. can)
- 1 12 oz. bottle of Heinz Chili Sauce (which is also great for a quick home made chili or for adding a little “kick” to your dishes!)
- 1 24 oz. package of frozen, fully-cooked Johnsonville Classic Italian Meatballs
First, place meatballs in the slow cooker and then cover with sauce and jelly.
Cook covered in your slow cooker for about 4 hours on High.
Serve and enjoy!
While this recipe can be made on your stove top by combining the ingredients and cooking over medium heat for 15-20 minutes, I tried out both ways and found the slow cooker route to be easiest and with the best overall results.
Whether you spend your weekends running from soccer game to swim meet or have an afternoon of pumpkin picking planned out, this is a tasty crowd-favorite that is sure to please. My kids thought they were delicious and I look forward to whipping them up when family visits over Thanksgiving as an easy appetizer!
