As Mommy Entourage readers know from my previous review and giveaway about The Lorax, I am a huge fan of Dr. Seuss! It was a treat to be able to take my kids to the movies to see this wonderful tale of environmental consciousness on the big screen, and it is also a delight now to have the DVD in my home to watch for movie night with my family.
Coming to stores August 7 from Universal Studios Home Entertainment, The Lorax brings its vividly colorful animation to the well-loved story of a boy looking to find out where all the trees had gone in attempts to win the heart of his crush. He comes upon a desolate wasteland where all the beautiful Truffula trees used to live and thus begins the story of the Lorax, or “Protector of the Trees”, and the lesson of keeping our environment safe. From the creators of Despicable Me, this movie is visually stimulating as well as funny and cute.
This new release comes the original movie release but also includes bonus feature exclusives including three mini-movies. My kids favorite was entitled “Serenade” and is a sing-off of two of the Bar-ba-loots. Giggles were everywhere as the two battled it out with the help of the Humming-Fish and Swomme-Swans. The Lorax is a great family choice if you are looking for something to watch with your kids for a fun night in. It comes with a rating of PG for brief mild language but there was nothing I noticed that I found inappropriate for my young kids. If you are looking to keep a healthy theme for your movie night, try out Stonyfield’s new YoKids Greek yogurt line! My kids found the raspberry flavor to be delicious and I loved pairing such an environmentally conscious movie with such an organic product that was healthy for my kids as well as yummy!
The Lorax is sure to be film watched over and over again in my home and I hope you get a chance to enjoy it with your family too!
